Students from the Women in Medicine Program hosted fundraisers for a week during lunch to raise money in support of the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
By selling baked goods, bubble tea, and free dress passes, they hoped to reach a goal of $1,000. In addition, students and staff collected clothing and school supplies which will be sent to Houston to support the students of a local teacher.
Ashley Travis, a faculty member at Mercy, is cousins with the teacher and has rallied our students to help with the recovery.
“My cousin is hustling everyday to muck out homes and get donations together for her students,” Ms. Travis said. “She says most have lost everything.”
