Paula McLaughlin has long been passionate about the French language and the many countries where French is spoken. She studied in Paris during her M.A., and she served in the Peace Corps in Morocco where she also did a Fullbright teacher exchange. She has taken students to rural Haiti to work with Mercy Focus on Haiti and Mercy Beyond Borders. She has also traveled with Mercy students to France, Quebec and New Orleans, sharing the richness of these Francophone cultures with our students.
Paula regularly volunteers at Martin de Porres, often with Mercy students, serving breakfast to the homeless community. She reads voraciously, particularly enjoying 19th century French and English novelists and contemporary French author Patrick Modiano, among many others.
