What is the Parent Pledge?
Tuition alone does not cover the full cost to educate your daughter. There is nearly a $5,000 gap between the cost of tuition and the actual cost of providing a Mercy education to your daughter. The Parent Pledge is a meaningful contribution to the Mercy Annual Fund that gives our families the opportunity to offset that gap. Rather than raising tuition to cover the escalating costs of education, Mercy counts on you to make a 100% tax-deductible gift to the Parent Pledge each year that your daughter is enrolled at Mercy.
Our focus at Mercy is on the percentage of families participating in the Parent Pledge. Your participation in the Parent Pledge demonstrates your commitment to your daughter’s education and increases Mercy’s opportunities to receive funding from foundations, corporations, and our alumnae.
How much am I expected to give to the Parent Pledge?
We ask all families to consider an annual gift of $1,500 to the Parent Pledge during your daughter’s four years at Mercy. We strongly encourage families with the financial capacity to increase their impact by making an annual Honor Society gift of $4,700 or more to meet the total cost to educate their daughter at Mercy.
What are the Parent Pledge giving levels and my payment options?
Parent Pledge Levels:
Mercy offers three pledge payment options:
You may choose to have your credit card charged directly or submit your payment via check, stock, or other transfer.
Can my friends and family contribute to my Parent Pledge on my behalf?
Yes! Please contact the Bekah Paige at firstname.lastname@example.org or 415.334.7941 to make arrangements.
What happens to my pledge if my daughter leaves Mercy before graduation?
If your daughter leaves Mercy, you will no longer be obligated to fulfill future installments of your pledge.
I have more than one daughter at Mercy—do I need to make a pledge for each student?
While we understand that having more than one student at Mercy is a major financial commitment, the cost to educate each of your daughters remains the same. Mercy counts on you to make a pledge that is within your means for each of your daughters.
Do I still need to participate in the Parent Pledge if I receive financial assistance?
We encourage our families who qualify for financial assistance or face other financial challenges to make a gift of any amount to help us achieve 100% participation from all families.
I still have questions. Who do I contact?
