WORLD LANGUAGES, FACULTY
M.A., University of Delaware
B.A., St. Mary's College of Maryland
Molly Leitner has always been eager to learn about Spanish language and culture ever since she took her first Spanish class in the 4th grade. Her studies continued through graduate school, where she earned a dual concentration Master's degree in Spanish literature and foreign language pedagogy. Some of Molly's most memorable experiences outside of the classroom include spending a summer in Honduras working on an archaeological project at the Mayan ruins of Copán and working as an interpreter at a detention facility in her home state of Maryland. Most importantly, she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the Spanish language and culture with her students.
On any given day in her class, a student could find themselves singing or listening to Spanish language songs, watching authentic videos (commercials, etc.), performing skits, or playing games in the target language. Molly believes that studying language goes far beyond learning the language at the surface level; it can increase our capacity for empathy, compassion, and connection with others.
Outside of school, Molly enjoys yoga, playing guitar, being outdoors, knitting, and volunteering at the humane society.
