DANCE PROGRAM DIRECTOR, PHYSICAL ED., FACULTY, WIPA COORDINATOR
B.A., Dance, San Francisco State University
Registered 200 hour Yoga Teacher
Joshua Ornelas comes from a modern dance background with classical discipline. Born and raised in the East Bay, Josh moved to San Francisco for school and fell in love. He uses his various cultural and educational experiences to create a well-rounded classroom environment. He works to develop spaces that are inclusive, supportive, and trauma-informed. He continues to research the neurological and physiological results of trauma on youth and how movement, dance, and yoga can be restorative practices in the classroom. He encourages his students to advocate for themselves while knowing they have a firm support system in place.
Outside of all of that he is heavily involved in the dance community in the SF Bay Area, takes frequent walks with his husband and two dogs, and spends as much time in or around water as possible!
