Julie Dearborn has been an English teacher at Mercy High School since 2001. Before becoming a teacher, she worked in the advertising sales department of Newsweek International Magazine and as a public relations specialist for Davis Medical Center.
After finishing her MA in English, she taught as an adjunct instructor at San Francisco State's continuing education department. It was here that she discovered her love of teaching. In addition to her job at Mercy High School, Julie has been an adjunct English instructor at Golden Gate University, The Academic of Art, and City College. Julie is the moderator of Legacy, the school's literary journal. She is continually impressed and inspired by the creativity of her students.
Julie earned her MFA in creative non-fiction in 2007 and has published poems and essays in many literary journals. She goes to writing workshops most summers and has worked with the renowned author, Frances Mayes.
