PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain meaningful educational learning profiles with each MAP participant and family to establish an academic baseline and academic goals.
- Facilitate regular student self-evaluation of academic strengths, challenges related to her learning difference, and her experience with and desired outcomes related to academic accommodations.
- Prepares and implements a strategic plan for ongoing intervention and remediation.
- Provide ongoing academic support to students in the McAuley Academic Program through regularly scheduled classes, scheduled meetings, and regular communications with families and other members of the student’s support team.
- Design, implement, and act on ongoing and continual assessment of student progress.
- Develops and maintains high-level knowledge of the Curriculum Maps, Scope and Sequence and all other grade-level curriculum in each content area taught, including the essential information, concepts and skills so as to better support students and assist classroom teachers.
- Remains current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research. Including engaging in regular and strategic professional development to advance the role of the Learning Specialist (including local and national seminars and conferences).
- Collaborate with specialists external to ensure appropriate support for all students in the McAuley Academic Program.
- In cooperation with classroom teacher(s), creates and ensures implementation of individualized learning plans.
- Assists teachers in classrooms to help adjust, modify, and enrich curricular approaches and improve pedagogy.
- Collaborate with each student’s counselor regarding her social/emotional well-being
- Be available after school at least twice weekly until at least 4:00pm to provide additional support to McAuley Academic Program students and students recommended by teachers for additional support.
- Seeks out new and innovative curricula, texts, and technological applications for implementation in our classrooms

QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A/B.S. degree in appropriate subject or related field from an accredited institution.
- Dedication to the mission and charism of Mercy High School San Francisco.
- Passion for the empowerment of young women a must.
- Proven experience as a teacher.
- Thorough knowledge of best practices and legal guidelines relevant to education partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures.
- Skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Well-organized and committed.
- Creative and energetic.
- Knowledge of CPR
- Comfort and proficiency with information technology including G-Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility, sensitivity, diplomacy and the outstanding interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively with multiple constituencies required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail required.
- Flexible and willing to work some evenings and/or weekends
