Photo Club

Moderator:  Gail Bennett

 

Mission Statement: To teach students how to take digital photos and manipulate and print photos using computer software programs.

 

The Goals of the club: To make the Photo Club members more aware of photographs and to expose them to the artistic medium of digital photography.

 

Time and place of your regular meetings: We usually meet as a club once a month in the Art Room during Club A choice days.

Update on the club sweater/sweatshirt design:  If you would like to submit a design, please give it to Ms. Bennett.  Be sure to have a small design for the front that includes "Photo Club" and "Mercy San Francisco" and do a simple line drawing for the design on the back.

 

Listen to morning announcements for upcoming meetings.

Cameras and Pictures should be brought to each club meetings unless specified otherwise by club moderator, club co-moderators, or club co-vice moderators.

Photo Contests: 

Submissions to the Legacy are year-round and cash prizes are available.  Submission forms are in any English classroom and for more information, contact a Legacy member or the moderator, Mr. Schaefer.

 

Events and /or activities your club sponsors: We also plan field trips to see photo exhibitions and locations for photo shoots.  We will post information about field trips on the bulletin board located in the Photo Lab and on the Club Bulletin Board (in the hall outside of the Cafeteria).

 

Field Trips/Events:

Retrieve permission slips for field trips on the Photo Lab bulletin board.  Turn in the completed form to Ms. Bennett in the Art Room.

 

If you have ideas for close field trips or dates please contact Ms. Bennett or the Photo Club officers.

Chinatown, Japantown, Japanese Tea Gardens, Golden Gate Bridge, Harren's Head Point, Land's End, Fort Miley, Union Square, Ghiradelli Square, North Beach, Alamo Square, Haight Street, SF Zoo, Mural Walk in the Mission District, Billy Goat Hill, Golden Gate Park, Embarcadero, Pier 39, China Beach

Friday, February 10th at 1:15 P.M.

Friday, March 30th at 1:15 P.M.

Friday, April 27th at 12:00 noon

 

Officers:  Officers (co-presidents) are appointed after filling out an application and being interviewed by the moderator.

There is a $5.00 membership fee collected for paper and ink the members will use in the Photo Lab.  Please give the membership fee as soon as possible, after you turn in your fee, you will receive a personalized membership card through homeroom.  In order to fully experience what Photo Club has to offer, the official membership card is essential.

 

Student photographs may be used for the school yearbook, the literary magazine, and various art exhibits around the Bay Area.
