Each year three main productions are cast through auditions, open to all Mercy students in good standing: a fall play, winter dance concert and spring musical. Additional programs include a Winter Pop’s Concert, featuring first semester chorus students and the Dolce after school singers, Final scene performances for first semester acting classes and In ACTion, the Visual & Performing Arts Festival, at the end of the year showcasing the work of students in dance, drama and music.

Through the performing arts program, students cultivate a sense of community and belonging, learn life skills, develop leadership abilities and become part of something larger than themselves. The confidence gained through performing lasts a lifetime, no matter which career path the individual pursues. Students working backstage gain knowledge in technical areas, such as light, sound and computer projection, that can lead to immediate employment.

Students cast in the three main productions earn class credit in either Acting in Production, Dance Ensemble or Technical Production, courses that appear on the University of California and California State University’s accepted list of electives.
