Green Team
About the Green Team...
The dual goal of Green Team is to enjoy nature together and to increase environmental responsibility at Mercy and in our civic community. We will go on field trips such as hikes and canoeing as well as habitat restoration activities coordinated through local and regional groups. We will help to maintain and extend the schools recycling and composting programs and we will maintain and develop the native plant garden dedicated to the Ohlone peoples that lived here for thousands of years. We will always seek to learn about sustainability and strive to make Mercy a” Green” or environmentally responsible school. Our project for ’07-’08 involves reducing Mercy’s dependence on fossil fuels and connecting to alternative energy sources. Students are invited to leadership positions based on demonstrated commitment.
Green Team is an "A" club and will meet during club "A" choice periods. Our weekly meetings are every Monday after school. Some of these days we will be working in the garden so come prepared! If you have any questions please see our Green Team moderator, Mr. McGarry, in room 315.
