McAuley Academic Program
What is MAP?
The McAuley Academic Program (MAP) is a four-year guide of careful instruction for young women with documented learning differences. MAP is ideal for a student who wants Mercy’s college preparatory educational experience but requires some adjustments for her academic needs. MAP directs each student with personalized strategies and a plan that best meets her individual learning requirements. MAP will also assist students to sustain the successful techniques that they use currently in their classrooms: i.e., preferential seating, use of laptops or recorders, extended time on tests, note-taking assistance, and more.
A key component with MAP is the careful crafting of each student’s schedule based upon her unique gifts and personal learning style. This schedule meets University of California and California State University eligibility requirements. MAP schedules include time to utilize Mercy’s Writing Center, Math Lab, and Achievement Center as well as additional time as needed with teachers and counselors. MAP schedules also allow students ample opportunities to pursue the excellent co-curricular activities at Mercy.
Overall, MAP is the program that will help develop the talents, creativity and athletic skills that each student will need to navigate her future plans for college and beyond. Mercy High School is a nurturing and caring environment -- the best place for young women who want to make a difference in the world!
"No work can be more productive of good to society than the careful instruction of women."
