About Ms. Petrini

What's with this "old-school" photo?
I am a proud graduate of Mercy
High School, Class of 1983, and yes, that is me on the right in the photo above,
with classmates Susan and Hanan. For those of you scoping out the old yearbooks
in the library, back then, my name was "Kay Crisman," and you probably also know
two of my classmates: Ms. Rodriguez (Sanders) and Ms. O'Sullivan (Miller).
After graduating from Mercy, I pursued my B.A. in Political Science at San
Francisco State University. For almost ten years, I worked in politics and
non-profit organizations, before having the amazing chance to spend a year
living and working in Europe (Germany). My experiences overseas inspired me to
pursue an M.A. in German Language and Literature, and my passion for languages,
history and politics led me to become a teacher of both Social Studies and
German. I taught at San Francisco State University and Lowell High School
before "coming home" to Mercy, and I am thrilled to be back in this very special
community.
Here are some highlights from the past 20 years!

1988: I put my passion for politics to good use in my first job out of college, working as a Legislative Aide to Assemblyman Bill Filante in the California State Legislature. Believe it or not, those huge glasses I'm wearing were totally stylin' back then! What were we thinking?!?!?

Baden-Baden, Germany
My Second Home
|
Fifteen years ago, my mom, who is originally from Germany, returned there. The town in which she settled, Baden-Baden, became a second home for me. I spent every summer and many Christmases there, and even took a "leave of absence" from the United States to live and work in Germany for a year. Although my mom moved back to San Francisco in 2006, my family and friends in Baden-Baden remain dear to my heart. I get homesick a lot! "Baden-Baden is so nice, they had to name it twice." -- President Bill Clinton
Former President Bill Clinton visited Baden-Baden in 2001. Here, he's greeting the crowd after visiting one of my favorite cafes, Leo's!
When his flight was delayed by rain, Mr. Clinton spent the evening jamming on the saxophone with the mayor of Baden-Baden and some of the locals. It was all over the papers the next day! |
